Hambach Roars Back to Life: INEOS Automotive Resumes Production

The Hambach production facility is buzzing once again as INEOS Automotive fires up its assembly lines for the Grenadier and Quartermaster 4X4s. Following a brief pause due to a seating supply issue caused by supplier insolvency, the plant is back on track, keeping its November promise of a timely restart.

“This is a great start to the year for us, one I strongly believe will be our best yet,” said Lynn Calder, CEO of INEOS Automotive. “We’re building on the more than 40% year-over-year growth achieved in 2024 and are thrilled to hear the familiar ‘toot’ of vehicles rolling through quality checks again.”

The first Grenadier off the line on January 16th, a Scottish White Utility Wagon, is bound for southern France, with two striking Devil Red models following closely behind. Devil Red, a bold new solid red shade, expands the Grenadier colour palette to eleven, available with a contrasting white or black roof.

Special Editions and Global Reach
Adding to the excitement, the Grenadier 1924 special edition—crafted to celebrate Belstaff’s centenary—joins the lineup. Limited to just 1,924 units, this package combines premium accessories and refined styling for those seeking a 4X4 with timeless appeal.

With the Hambach plant entering its third full year of production, vehicles are already en route to retailers across 50 countries, including new markets like Mexico and China.

Looking Ahead
2024 also marked the end of smart ForTwo production at Hambach, with its former line dismantled to pave the way for future INEOS projects. “We are incredibly grateful for the patience and support of our customers, suppliers, and teams,” added Philippe Steyer, President of INEOS Automotive SAS. “Hambach stands as a testament to INEOS’ resilience and ambition, ready to build on last year’s solid foundation.”

The Grenadier is now ready to tackle roads and trails worldwide. INEOS Automotive’s steady growth and bold plans signal an exciting chapter ahead for the brand.
